It’s me again.
I’m really looking forward to the upcoming episode. Looks like a lot of fun.
But since we’re nearly at the middle of the new season, I have to say I’m still dissapointed in how they treat Justin’s character. Why can’t they write any (good) storylines for Alex? Maybe that’s just me but, from the comments I read on different forums and boards, I have the feeling he is one of the more popular characters on the show. Or am I mistaken? (Might be possible that I pay more attention to Alex related comments and posts because I’m a huge fangirl).
Guess I should just stop having any expectations.
On a minor note (or not so minor) I have to say: Justin looks incredibly hot in the new season. I mean he is 41 and in my opinion he could easily pass for a 30. He ages so well.
And thanks for posting “The happiest man alive”. I finally had the chance to watch it. Also I’m looking forward to see his new movie.

Actually, we’re already at the middle of the season. The most recent episode was 8.12 and this season will have 24 episodes. I completely share your disappointment in regards to how Alex Karev is treated. I don’t want to get too into it here but I don’t think it’s a question of whether the writers are capable of writing Alex a good storyline. It seems to me like it’s more of a case of not wanting to write for Alex. Shonda Rhimes, who truly is the one that calls the shots on this show, seems to genuinely like Justin as a person (going by her comments about him) but I honestly get the sense that she isn’t interested in his character. For a season that she said was going to be focused on the original characters, I have yet to see Alex get some real focus or a storyline that is about him. I really think the best thing is to not have any expectations and just enjoy the eye candy because then you won’t be as disappointed with each passing episode or end of season. But I know that’s easier said than done. ๐

Yeah, you’re totally right. And I’m working on not having any expectations at all. But my problem is that the writers already teased on some potential storylines for Alex in the past (concerning his family). That sounded really interesting to me and that’s why I still hope against hope that they might actually bring up the topic of his family (sister) again and treat it properly. If they had neglected him completely after Izzie left, I think it would be less of a problem for me. I just think they could really make something good out of this family storyline and it bugs me that they don’t use it.
I totally get where you are coming from. Trust me, I do. The topic of Alex’s family could be an interesting storyline and it’s the thing I’ve wished for the most but I don’t believe the writers/Shonda will ever really go there. It does bug me that Alex’s upbringing/family never got the proper focus it deserved yet Meredith’s family issues have been done to death and is still constantly brought up (look at the most recent episode and the the next episode – hello there, Ellis Grey!). ๐ Aside from the occasional brief mention, I don’t think anything will really come to fruition in regards to family or Alex getting a storyline that is specifically about him. I would love to be completely wrong about this though…
