On Sunday, the Grey’s Anatomy cast will perform songs at UCLA’s Royce Hall to benefit The Actors Fund. In the lead up to the event, the cast has been busy rehearsing and doing press. Yesterday, Shonda Rhimes and Kevin McKidd tweeted pics of some of the cast rehearsing on set. They include Sara Ramirez, Jessica Capshaw, Sarah Drew, Kim Raver, James Pickens Jr. and, of course, Justin who is in his blue scrubs. Check out the pics:

And surprise, surprise! Justin will also be singing with his kids at the benefit. They’ll sing Peter Bjorn and John’s 2006 hit “Young Folks.”

Three of Chambers’ children will join him on stage for a rendition of Peter Bjorn and John’s 2006 hit “Young Folks.” “It’s a duet between me and my daughter,” Chambers said. “My other daughter is going to play the guitar, and we’re going to whistle.”

The LA Times has an article about the benefit and there are several quotes from Justin in it including the one above. To read more click the link -> LA Times.

In other news, actress Amanda Fuller who plays Intern Morgan Peterson gave an interview to Wetpaint discussing her role, the Morgan & Alex relationship and what it’s like on the Grey’s set. About Justin:

Justin makes me laugh maybe more than anyone I’ve ever met. He’s got such a humble, grounded, goofy quality about him.

ABC released the promo stills for episode 8.16 titled “If Only You Were Lonely” which airs February 23rd. I added to our gallery 9 HQ stills and a MQ behind the scenes pic of Justin with co-star Chyler Leigh.

8.16 – If Only You Were Lonely

If Only You Were Lonely” – As Adele’s condition continues to deteriorate, Richard considers altering their living situation; an explosion at a local coffee shop results in a busy day in the ER for the doctors; Callie takes Meredith under her wing by helping her study for her boards; Lexie joins Arizona and Alex in peds, as they continue to care for intern Morgan’s premature son; and when Jackson snaps at a patient, Mark encourages him to find ways to relieve his stress. ABC released the promo photos for Grey’s alternate reality episode airing February 2nd. Going by the photos we’ll certainly be seeing Alex as we’ve never seen him before. The episode synopsis is below and also the link for the HQ photos that have been added to the gallery.

“If/Then” – As Meredith puts Zola to bed and falls asleep, she begins to wonder — what if her mother had never had Alzheimer’s and she’d had loving, supportive parents? The reverberations of a happy Meredith Grey change the world of Seattle Grace as we know it. What if she had never met Derek in that bar and he had never separated from Addison? What if Callie and Owen had become a couple long before she met Arizona? And what if Bailey never evolved from the meek intern she once was? “Grey’s Anatomy” airs THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

In related Justin news, it is publicly known that the original cast of Grey’s Anatomy is currently in talks with ABC studios about extending their contracts past season 8. Regardless of who stays or goes, Shonda Rhimes has already decided how the season will end for the characters.

There was also a Justin mention in a review/recap of the episode:

Alex wants to help with the baby from the ambulance, but Arizona thinks he’s done enough – he’s exhausted and needs to sit this one out.

The only problem is that he just can’t. Justin Chambers is wonderful at showing just how fidgety he is – eventually, Alex jumps up and forces Arizona to let him help, yelling that he didn’t go through hell to just back off.

Next Thursday episode 8.11 “This Magic Moment” airs and the ABC and CTV promos are below.

The latest edition of French magazine Télé Loisirs, which came out today, has an interview with Justin and a few quotes from the interview were published on the site Pure People which is translated below.

I don’t speak french (I do know that “Dr Mamour” is what they call Dr. McDreamy, lol) so I mostly used the Google translator for this and made a few alterations but if any french-speaking fan wants to correct something, please do. Here’s the translated article:

Justin Chambers (Karev) about to dethrone McDreamy?

Wednesday, January 4, 2011, TF1 broadcast the seventh season of Grey’s Anatomy! After the incredible season 6 finale in which Seattle Grace had a bloody shootout, we find our Grey’s Anatomy heroes one month after the tragedy, still traumatized!

The program for this season, always more love and stories of complicated hearts. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will live with the trauma of miscarriage hidden it has not announced Derek (Patrick Dempsey). For his part, Mark (Eric Dane) tries to regain Lexie (Chyler Leigh). As for Karev (Justin Chambers), he takes on a more important role.

Moreover, while the two heroes – Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo – could be about to leave the series, Justin Chambers is promoted. When asked by Télé Loisirs, he said: “The writers also work for some time that Dr. Karev takes on even more importance in Grey’s Anatomy.”

Regarding the departure of his colleagues, he admits: “It would be odd, and even unfortunate. But fans are not afraid of changes. They want change. I add that Karev has the experience to take over.”

Whatever the outcome of the series – whether or not it will finish at the end of season 8- Justin Chambers thinks he has the right to a spin-off. “I know that Shonda Rhimes would like to work on a new spin-off that my character could have a major role,” he said.

Interview to find in its entirety in Télé Loisirs (on newsstands December 26, 2011) and return to Grey’s Anatomy Season 7 on TF1 since January 4, 2012.

Some of the article gets lost in the translation but I think we get the gist of what is being said. The original cast and ABC studios are currently in contract talks (according to Patrick Dempsey) and it sounds like Alex Karev’s (and therefore Justin’s) fate on Grey’s Anatomy after season 8 is still very much up in the air.
