Songs for Soldiers

February 16th, 2010

Justin has associated himself with another cause. He’s supporting an initiative called “Songs For Soldiers” where the goal is to supply every American soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan with an MP3 player because listening to songs help them cope with the stress of combat. There’s an article in the LA Times about the cause. Here’s a bit of it:

“While you’re out there, music serves as the soundtrack to your own movie,” Gilfillan recalled. “I remember the songs I listened to while I was out there. When someone got killed in our unit, I remember listening to Gary Jewel’s “Mad World” over and over again. Music has always attached meaning to a certain point in people’s lives.”

Celebrities such as “Today Show” news anchor Ann Curry, “Grey’s Anatomy” doc Justin Chambers, “Terminator” star Linda Hamilton and football star Terrell Owens have endorsed the campaign.

To read the full article go to LA Times and to learn more about the cause and finding out how you can help visit Songs For Soldiers.

You can watch the PSA Justin filmed for SFS below:

Justin was at the movie premiere of “Legion” last week (Jan. 21) to support friend and former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Kate Walsh but he skipped the red carpet.  :(   I’ve looked around but I’ve only been able to find him posing for pic with a fan at the premiere. Click on the pic to see bigger:

Photo Caption: Justin Chambers and me, hes so nice everytime I see him, and he is in Greys Anatomy :)

I uploaded a short video of Justin being interviewed on the red carpet at the event “An Evening of Stars: A Tribute To Lionel Richie.” I haven’t been able to find the event itself but this video is cute because Justin sings! :D

The Happiest Man Alive

January 25th, 2010

What did Justin do in December during a couple of days off from Grey’s Anatomy? He starred in a short film for a couple of his friends titled “The Happiest Man Alive” which will be released Spring 2010. The film was shot in 2 days for under $10K. Impressive.

The short film is 11 minutes long and an allegorical story about a day in the life of a man who wakes up, stabs himself in the chest and goes to the office like nothing happened. On the film’s Facebook page there’s the following message:

WE DID IT… With the most amazingly hard working cast and crew, we were able to capture the funny and heart-warming little film that we hoped to make. OTMFC made this movie look unreal. Special thanks to JC for being unbelievably patient and giving of his time. Editorial started hours after wrap and we’ll post some clips/stills soon. Thank you all again. We made something really special.

I added a few screencaps from a rough cut version of the short to the gallery so check them out.

P.S. – I still don’t know what movie Justin is planning to shoot in the Summer that he mentioned in the TV Guide interview but I’ll let you know as soon as I know.
