The Hollywood Reporter recently posted an article where industry insiders were asked what to get for casts, crews, studio executives, directors and agents ahead of the holidays. Justin was one of the people asked and his answer is below.

32 Hollywood Actors, Producers, Execs Recommend Holiday Gifts for Colleagues

Actor Justin Chambers (Grey’s Anatomy): “I got this clock, this little travel clock with my initials on the cover of it. You can travel with it. It’s not a digital, but it’s the hand. I got it from my agent, Steven Hirsch.”

Grey’s Anatomy co-executive producer and writer, Jason Ganzel, posted this BTS pic from the midseason finale (episode 15.08 titled “Blowin’ in the Wind”) in which Justin and Camilla Luddington were rehearsing a scene. Also in the pic is Jason, Kevin McKidd (director), Giacomo Gianniotti (he was shadowing Kevin) and Lindsay Cohen (script supervisor).

Last Thursday night (Nov. 1), Justin attended the 18th Annual Debbie Allen Dance Academy Fall Soiree Fundraising Celebration held at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

I added a few photos of him on the red carpet to the archive, and the album link is below.

Justin also gave a few interviews at the event. He spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about why he finds Debbie Allen, who has been an executive producer and director on Grey’s Anatomy for several seasons, awe-inspiring.

“I call her a beast, a beautiful beast. I’m around her a lot on set, we all are. And just to see her juggle so many things and do it with grace and compassion and passion. She’s a very passionate woman and I’m in awe of it. I’m really happy to be here and congratulate her on all of her successes. We’re grateful to have her as a part of our show.”

When it comes to Grey’s, he gave his thoughts about the eventual end of the show and his future on it to Us Weekly.

“It’s still going strong and as long as they keep writing the way that they do and people invest in these characters, the show could just keep going. It’s kind of crazy,” he told Us and other reporters on Thursday. “I deal with today and this season and I’m grateful and having fun.”

Voting for the People’s Choice Awards ends this Friday (Oct. 19), so keep voting for Justin in the The Male TV Star of the 2018 category at the PCA site HERE.

Hollywood Life interviewed Justin at The Rape Foundation’s annual brunch (Oct. 7) and asked him about his future on Grey’s Anatomy, and also what’s coming up for Alex.

While at the event, which honored celebrity guest Jennifer Garner, Justin Chambers talked about his future on the series, saying, “I honestly don’t know [how much longer I’ll do the show]. I play it year by year now. We’ll see — this year is all I am thinking about. We are almost halfway through [filming Season 15].”

If you’ve been watching the current season, then you should know that Justin’s character, Alex Karev, was recently named the new chief of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital — a position he’ll seemingly hold until Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) decides she wants to take her job back. Bailey gave it up so she could focus more on surgery and less on the daily stresses that come from being the chief. Anyway, when Justin spoke about what’s coming up for Alex later this season, he said, “Alex is still chief so….. goofiness happens. We will see where they go with all of this. We are happy that people are still watching!” And watching we are — after 15 seasons, Grey’s Anatomy is still one of ABC’s top-two rated drama series.

The screencaps from the most recent episode titled “Momma Knows Best” have been added to the archive.

By the way, there is no Grey’s this week. The show returns with episode 15.05 titled “Everyday Angel” on Oct. 25th.

This is the Grey’s Anatomy season 15 premiere roundup and it’s going to be a big one…

To start things off, Camilla Luddington posted a BTS pic as an Instagram story of her and Justin during Jo and Alex’s (Jolex) honeymoon. The Grey’s set decorator, Nicole Cramer, posted a pic of the fridge in Jolex’s loft and there’s now a honeymoon pic on it. The pics have been added to the season 15 BTS album.

Grey’s showrunner, Krista Vernoff, gave several interviews where she explained the events of the premiere and what’s ahead for the characters. I’ve only posted below the parts that refer to Justin and Alex Karev’s storyline. The full interviews can be read at the sources linked to below.

The Hollywood Reporter

Speaking of interim chief, how will Alex be a different chief than the ones we’ve seen before? How will Alex being a leader shake things up?

It’s delightfully different. Justin Chambers just lights this story up. In many ways, he was the least likely candidate for the job — which is why we loved it so much when we landed on it in the room after days of discussing the various possibilities. It feels entirely different than the chiefs we’ve seen before — and Justin wears the suit well.

TV Guide

In a surprising twist, Alex is the interim chief of surgery. How does he compare to Bailey in that role?
Vernoff: Alex Karev is an unlikely chief of surgery and that was a joy. It’s a little bit of a fish-out-of-water story initially. Who would have thought that Alex [would score this position]? It’s really joyful to see how he steps into it and rises to [the occasion]. It’s funny, and Justin (Chambers) is just tremendous. Wait ’til you see him in a suit.

So we’re gonna see Alex in a suit really taking this new role seriously?
Vernoff: It’s a temporary thing because Bailey’s gonna take her job back, but Bailey is trying to take care of her health and her stress levels and find the joy that she lost when Ben became a firefighter. It’s a complicated journey she’s taking, but she’ll be chief again at some point. In the meantime, Alex is up against everyone’s judgment and everyone’s doubt and his own self-doubt and it’s really great to see.

Deadline

DEADLINE: This season the show picks up after the wedding, with Jo and Alex on their honeymoon after finally getting married. But as we’ve seen often in the show, marriage doesn’t necessarily lead to forever, with couples often breaking up at some point. Will Jo and Alex be the exception?

VERNOFF: Well, I can’t speak to the long run because who knows how long the show will go on. I feel like Jo and Alex had a really long journey to this moment where they’re newlyweds and they’re happily married and are more interested in leaning into you and me against the world than you and me against each other. I think they’ve earned it.

This next quote is from the Remote Controlled podcast at Variety. I transcribed the part where Krista talks about Alex/Justin that starts at about the 19:52 mark.

You saw in the premiere that Alex is the Interim Chief of Surgery, which I think nobody expected. No one saw that coming. And when we came to that in the writers’ room, we spent weeks talking about ‘Who’s it gonna be? Who’s it gonna be? Who’s it gonna be?’, and when we landed on Alex, we were like, ‘Oh my God, of course it’s Alex!’ And it just was untold. Like, that story was like, ‘Who is he is gonna be as chief?’ was so delightful to us. The first day that Roemehl, our new costume designer, put him in his chief duds, like in his suit, Justin was like, “I feel reborn.” It’s really an exciting, fun thing to watch.

I’ll also leave this mention of Justin here. It’s part of an interview with the Grey’s directors who were working last week (Sept. 25), which included Nicole Rubio who was directing episode 15.06.

Refinery29

While the multi-hyphenate was fairly secretive about her episode, Rubio could confirm she had spent her morning shooting with Justin Chambers and Camilla Luddington, who play newlyweds Alex Karev and Jo Wilson(-Karev?). “They are hysterical,” Rubio said with a laugh. “They were so cute together. They are happy to be here, happy to be married.”

This week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy is titled “Gut Feeling.” I had previously added some promotional photos to the archive, and here are now the promos and synopsis.

Here’s a short BTS video from the season 14 episode “Fight For Your Mind” (episode 14.22) posted by Bryan Mendoza (boom operator). The scene is the one where Alex goes to his mom’s work and sees her for the first time since his return to Iowa.

Speaking of Alex’s mom, Camilla Luddington confirmed that Lindsay Wagner will reprise her role as Helen Karev this season on Grey’s, and we’ll also meet more of Alex’s family.🙌🙌 Camilla was in an episode of TV Line’s Tube Talk and she gave a few more details about what to expect in season 15 for Alex/Jolex. The full interview can be seen at TV Line, and a condensed version with just the Alex/Jolex mentions can be watched below.

To celebrate Grey’s Anatomy reaching its milestone 15th season and tying E.R. as one of the longest-running hospital dramas on TV, Entertainment Weekly is featuring six special collectors covers with the cast of the show this week (on stands this Friday).

Check out the gorgeous cover Justin shares with costar Camilla Luddington below. The full-sized version can be seen in this album, where I’ll also be adding scans of the magazine when it’s out.

EW Cover Justin Chambers Camilla Luddington

The other covers can be seen HERE. In addition, everyday until the Grey’s premiere on Sept. 27, EW will post more things as part of their special #7DaysofGreys series.

Along with the covers, EW also posted another photo of Justin and Camilla (can be seen in full size in this album) and there’s a quote from him about shooting the pilot episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
What’s cool about this is that Justin shot the pilot the last week of Sept. 2004, and 14 years later, in the last week of Sept. 2018, he’s on the cover of EW celebrating the show reaching its 15th season milestone.😎 Check out what he said below.

nullJustin Chambers (Dr. Alex Karev) and Camilla Luddington (Dr. Jo Wilson)

Chambers still remembers how he felt while shooting the Grey’s pilot. “Nerves, definitely nerves,” he recalls. “I was with all these other actors, I didn’t know anybody, and I was hoping the show would be a success and thank God it worked out.”
Luddington, who came much later, spent her first day “geeking out” in Meredith’s house “when I wasn’t supposed to be there. We weren’t even shooting and I just kind of crept on and investigated everything, because I was a fan of the show. So my first memories of being on set was even before we started filming anything and I was sneaking into Meredith’s house.”

EW posted the following two videos featuring the cast. In this first video, the cast talks about the show’s fans and there is some BTS footage from the cover shoot.

In this video, the cast has some fun taking EW’s “Which Grey’s Anatomy Character Are you?” quiz. You can take the quiz HERE.

Justin tweeted a link to a great review of his daughter Eva’s band Pinky Pinky‘s concert. Click the link to read it.

In these last few days, Justin has been in his hometown (Springfield, Ohio) for a visit and he’s been popping up in different places and spotted around town. Last Saturday (June 30), he shopped at The Hustead School House Farm Market at Oak Dale Farms.

On Monday (July 2), he was at Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital and posed for photos with the staff which were posted on the hospital’s Facebook page (see below).
The hospital’s Marketing Market Strategy and Communications Manager, Kristin Davis, told local news source Springfield News-Sun that Justin “was so gracious and kind to everyone.” ☺

A few more photos from Justin’s time in Ohio were posted or retweeted on the site’s Twitter account. I’m not going to embed them all here, but I’ll post the links to the tweets: at the gym on July 1st (here and here), another photo at the Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital (here), and at a restaurant on July 4th (here).
