Here’s some interesting Grey’s Anatomy news. An upcoming episode, which will be directed by Ellen Pompeo, will flash back to Alex’s turbulent teenage years. I always love when Grey’s explores Alex’s backstory and hopefully this means Justin will get some great material, so I’m excited. Check out what TV Line reported below.

Grey’s Anatomy: Ellen Pompeo Poised to Direct Pivotal Alex Episode

TVLine has learned exclusively that Pompeo is poised to step behind the camera later this season to direct another episode of the long-running ABC drama. This will mark the actress’ second Grey’s directing stint; she helmed last season’s 18th episode, “Be Still, My Soul,” which revolved around the death of Maggie’s (Kelly McCreary) mother.

Pompeo’s latest directing effort may prove to be equally as heavy.

Although the script is still being finalized and therefore is subject to change, sources tell TVLine that a portion of the episode will flash back to Alex’s (Justin Chambers) turbulent teenage years. Per Grey’s canon, Alex spent much of his childhood coping with a drug-addict father and schizophrenic mother (the latter of whom he had committed). He made his way through more than a dozen foster homes, spent time in juvenile detention and lost his virginity to a nurse at his high school at 15. Suffice it to say, the episode will have no shortage of ground to cover.

Producers are looking to bring in a different actor to play Young Alex.

Pompeo is slated to begin work on the episode in January, with an air date likely falling in March/April. Grey’s is set to resume its current 14th season on Jan. 18.

Back in August, Justin attended Sheila E’s live performance and release party for her album “Iconic: Message 4 America” at the Conga Room in Los Angeles. Below is a photo posted by Grey’s Anatomy crew member Bryan Mendoza from that night and besides him it also features Justin, James Pickens Jr, Jason George and MC Lyte.

Bonus video because it’s funny: Justin at the Chateau Marmont in August taking selfies with fans. I’d say this fan speaks for all of us when she says she’s glad Shonda Rhimes hasn’t killed him (Alex). Justin’s reaction to that is pretty great.😂

The official trailer for season 2 of Swedish Dicks debuted this Thursday and Justin makes an appearance in it. The season 2 world premiere will be on Dec. 25th on Viaplay (for the US, season 2 premieres on Pop TV in Jan. 2018). A few stills can be seen at the photo archive, and the trailer below can be watched below.

Here’s a Swedish Dicks sneak peek. It’s the scene seen in the trailer but it’s a bit longer. Justin plays Graham and he’ll be in the season premiere. Looking forward to this. 😂😂

On Saturday (Dec. 2), Justin volunteered at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and helped pack meals for kids. He was there along with his costars Jason George and James Pickens Jr., as well as Grey’s Anatomy co-showrunner William (Bill) Harper and former writer/EP Mark Wilding. Check out the photo Jason posted on Instagram below.

William Harper tweeted about the Grey’s fam volunteering with their own fams, and donating to the LA Food Bank or supporting local food banks.

Some surprising news for fans… Justin will guest star in season 2 of Swedish Dicks.

swedish dicks justin chambersSwedish Dicks is an American-Swedish comedy web television series that follows two mismatched Swedish private detectives (played by Peter Stormare and Johan Glans) as they take on the most bizarre investigative cases Los Angeles has ever seen.

Justin will be in the first episode of season 2 playing a character named Graham (photo) and looking quite different than what we’re used to! His character is described as a tired and lonely ageing rocker who hopes to find friendship with the hapless private detectives.

The second season of Swedish Dicks, consisting of 10 episodes, will premiere exclusively on Viaplay on December 25. Two episodes will be released at launch, followed by two episodes every Monday until the season finale on January 22. In the United States, season 2 is scheduled for release in January 2018 on Pop TV.

I added 3 production stills featuring Justin to the photo archive and the link to them is below.

A teaser trailer came out a few days ago revealing that Keanu Reeves’ character, Tex, will be returning in season 2. Justin isn’t in the teaser, but I’ll leave it here for those that want to check it out.

This is my last update (at least for a while) about the 300th episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Once again, congratulations to Justin, and the entire cast and crew for reaching this rare milestone! 👏🍾🎉❤

ABC released two more promotional stills from the 300th episode of Grey’s Anatomy titled “Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story” and they have been added to the photo archive as well as the screencaps from the episode (album links are below).

After the 300th episode aired, Justin posted a thank you message on Instagram. Check it out below.

Grey’s executive producer and co-showrunner, Krista Vernoff, wrote the 300th episode and live-tweeted mentioning Justin a couple of times (for those interested, here’s a list of most of the Easter eggs in the episode)

This is the scene Krista was talking about in the previous tweet (it really is such beautiful work by Justin, as always).
