★ Here’s another BTS pic from the midseason premiere of Grey’s Anatomy (episode 12.08 “The Sound of Silence”). In it we see director Denzel Washington and Justin at the door holding young actress Aniela Gumbs’s (Zola Shepherd) hand. This is the scene where Alex brings Meredith’s kids to the hospital to visit her.

★ Ellen Pompeo was the guest featured in the recent episode of the Shondaland Revealed podcast hosted by executive producer Betsy Beers.
During this recent podcast, Ellen discussed knowing Justin before Grey’s Anatomy and that she feels connected to him. Below is the transcript of that part of the podcast. Listen to the entire podcast at EW.com.
Ellen: Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci were both in that meeting and they were kind enough to then write a show and call me in to audition for. That was that FBI show called “Secret Service” and I wanted to work with those guys so bad because I loved ALIAS and I thought J.J. [Abrams] was so cool. And then Alex and Bob wrote this great pilot and I was like “Yes! This is what I want to do. This is what I want to do!” And my agent was saying there’s this medical show they want you to meet on and I said “No, I really want to be a spy. I want to do this.” And then I did the screentest that you saw. It was so amazing I didn’t get that part. Betsy: Right? Ellen: That’s how great I was as an FBI agent. Betsy: You were so good. Ellen: And then I ended up on Grey’s and Justin Chambers, another great story, who I knew from New York, we would audition together. And of course I knew who he was because he was the super hot guy who was always at auditions, and he had a wife and a child. He’s the super hot guy who you knew was completely off limits. So I knew Justin because he was the super hot guy who was completely off limits, and then I knew him in New York, and then I would see him out in LA a little bit. When he showed up on Grey’s, I was like, “Oh my God, Justin, hi!” We had done a commercial together, Justin and I, and then I found out he was on that FBI– the “Secret Service” pilot and it didn’t go. Betsy: Oh my God, I never put that together. Ellen: Talk about people who… Things are meant to be and what’s meant to be. Justin and I have always been in each other’s orbit. That’s why I feel like I have such a connection to him because… Betsy: Yeah, you guys do.
