EST 2007 | The Best Justin Chambers Source for 12 Years
10/07/2017

Last week was a big week… Grey’s Anatomy reached the 300th episode milestone, there was a party, on location filming and season 14 premiered. With all the news, photos and videos having to be added to the site and making update posts, I didn’t mention a more personal milestone for us here – Justin Chambers Online reached it’s 10th anniversary!

For real. Ten years. Wow.

Those who know me (Diana), know I’m pretty laid-back and don’t make a big deal about things, not even birthdays. However, I do think it’s fitting to acknowledge JCO’s anniversary because it’s rare for a fansite, especially these days with Tumblr and social media, to be online for this long.

I would first like to thank Fay for letting me join her on this ride. She’s the mastermind behind all this. The cool header, the layout, all the technical details that actually go into having the site up and running, it’s all her doing. Over the years, she’s received her fair share of e-mails from me with technical issues/questions, and she has always promptly gotten to work in getting things fixed, and has always been sweet about it all, even though I’m sure I was annoying at times. Ha! Simply put, JCO wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for her.

I believe I can speak on Fay’s behalf when I say, a big thank you goes out to YOU, our visitors. This site is run by Justin fans for Justin fans, so all the work would be pointless without you all visiting. Also, thank you to those who follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook. A few years ago, when we decided it would be a good idea for the site to have a presence on social media, I never thought we would have 22K+ Twitter followers and 70K+ Facebook likes. It’s been fun and definitely interesting to interact with fans and see how the fandom has evolved. To those special souls who started off as visitors but have become friends, thank you for the support and, above all, for listening.

Special shout-out goes out to man the site is about – Justin Chambers. You once said to me on IG about the site, “I live a low key life so to get praise and appreciation like that can be good medicine for an actor’s ego.” And to that I’ll say, that you have deserved every bit of praise and appreciation. Your immense talent in undeniable, you are beloved by your coworkers, and every fan that I have ever seen or heard from has spoken of your kindness and generosity. I wouldn’t be doing this for this long if you weren’t a kind, generous, down-to-earth family man who’s also a true and wonderful professional. You’ve made it easy to be a fan of yours.

Well, this has gotten much longer than I ever intended… As for me, I’ll continue on doing my part in updating you with news, photos and videos here at the site, and on Twitter and Facebook. The ride is still going!

Once again, thank you to all for the last 10 years. ❤

Seattle Refined published this week the interviews they conducted with some of the cast of Grey’s Anatomy in July when they were in the city to shoot scenes for season 14.

In Jesse Williams’s interview, he was asked which character is his favorite, and he said Karev adding that no one else who could play him better than Justin (completely agree). Check out his full answer below.

And even members of the cast have their own favorite character. Who is Williams’?

“I think I’d go with [Alex] Karev,” he said. “Incredible comic timing and material and walks the line of being the comedian or butt of jokes – both masculine and tough and really tender as a lead doctor in the Peds Department. He’s kind of student and teacher, [but] he has his vices. He comes from a rough childhood. There’s a lot going on there and there’s no one who could do it better than Justin Chambers.”

And, of course, here is Justin’s interview in which he talks about his character, Alex, and being on Grey’s Anatomy.

Keeping Up with Karev: Justin Chambers spills secrets from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ set

null We’ve been talking a ton about Grey’s Anatomy this week, in preparation of the premiere of their 14th season.

Think about that – 14 seasons! It takes a lot to get through over 300 episodes, plot twists left and right, and cast members dropping in and out like flies.

In fact, there are only a handful of characters who have been there since the beginning – and one of them is Alex Karev, played by Justin Chambers.

“Alex definitely, you’ve seen a big transition from the first few seasons,” said Chambers when we chatted with him this summer. A handful of the cast came up to shoot scenes in Seattle, and you KNOW we had to get some fact time with them. “He [Alex] had a lot of bravado, cocky – he’s definitely become more sensitive as the years progressed and a lot of that has to do with his relationships with his patients, but also with his fellow doctors.”

Chambers isn’t new to Seattle like some other cast members (cough, Kevin McKidd, cough) – the show filmed scenes up here several seasons ago.

“It’s great to be back!,” he said. “Different landscape, different vibe, ate at a great restaurant last night, lots of good food here – feels like I’m doing a plug for the city but it’s true, I’m a tourist here.”

After 14 seasons, only four characters remain that were in Season 1: Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) and Alex Karev (Chambers).

“I don’t remember life before this show, it’s been so many years,” laughed Chambers. “It’s a great blessing, get to work with the people I want to work with get to play a character that’s fun and pay the bills, can’t ask for anything more.”

Many people joke that the show just keeps going – but Chambers sums it up well:

“You’re on a successful hit show, you enjoy playing these characters, why not just keep riding until people don’t want it?”

Seriously – just give the people what they want!

“We all really do get along and make the best work we can,” says Chambers about his cast mates. “As an artist you want to express yourself, and if people respond – you feel like you’re doing something and that’s gratifying. It makes me excited to get back to work.”

One of the seminal relationships in the show is not romantic – shockingly – it’s the friendship between Alex and Meredith, played by Ellen Pompeo.

“Ellen’s great to work off of, there’s great chemistry there,” he said. “I like that there’s sort of a sibling love for each other.”

A pipe dream for many fans is that Alex and Meredith end up getting together, but Chambers wasn’t spilling any secrets.

“People project and see what they want to see, and that’s all in Shonda’s head,” he said. “It will go where it goes – anything is possible. As an actor my job is to fly with what’s written and justify it in my mind, and I can do that.”

Every end is just a new beginning and with that in mind, I would like to wish everyone health, love and happiness in 2016.

I think I can speak on behalf of Fay when I say thank you to our visitors in 2015 and over the past 8 years!

On a personal note, last year was probably the most difficult one for me as a fan for several reasons. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to those people who took the time to send encouraging and kind words through the site and/or through Twitter. It has truly meant a lot.

Below is a collage with some pics from Justin’s 2015. Now we have a new year ahead of us. I’ll continue trying my best to keep the Justin Chambers fans updated. Thanks for stopping by! Happy New Year! 🙂

For those who might not be aware yet, the video archive has been reopened. It’s still a work in progress and I’ll be adding more videos over time, but there are quite a few already up. Check them out at jchambersmedia.com

In an interview with Line Magazine, actress Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’) briefly mentions Justin.

What are some of your best on-set experiences you’ve had with your fellow Grey’s cast mates? Who makes you laugh the most?

Camilla: In general Jessica Capshaw makes me laugh the most. We always have a hard time getting through scenes because I will find something hilarious that she does. A stand-out memory for me… there’s a period where Jo and Alex tease their romance for an entire season. The first kiss was very special to me cause I was rooting for them all season. They are best friends on the show. Justin Chambers and I would even ask the writers, “When are Alex and Jo getting together? We know they’re meant to be together!” It was a really great memory. I loved that moment for her.
