The HD Room is holding a ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 10 DVD giveaway for residents of the US/Canada. To enter the contest you have to fill out the form at the site. The contest ends on October 3, 2014.

Here is the link to the contest and also this Q&A with Justin: www.thehdroom.com

Q: You’ve been on the show from the beginning while many of your co-stars have come and gone. Do you have any favorite memories of those co-stars?
A: So many. It’s kind of insane how many people have come in and out of the show and after being on it for so many years you kind of forget some of the plots and some of the actors. Off the top of my head I can’t think of a favorite memory but I do miss a lot of the people who have left, like T.R. Knight [George O’Malley], Katherine Heigl [Izzie Stevens] and Kate Walsh [Addison Montgomery].

Q: Do you think Alex becoming a pediatrician is a nice evolution for the character?
A: Definitely. In the very beginning, Alex went in wanting to be a plastic surgeon. He was inspired by the money and the acclaim, but now he has found his bedside manner through working with children and that’s brought out more interesting aspects of his personality. He’s good at it too, so it was definitely a good career choice.

Q: What’s been your most memorable on-set blooper?
A: Probably the time when a light fell down and it almost hit an actor who was lying on a table. McDreamy [Patrick Dempsey] was there and he saved the day by pushing the light away. It was very heroic.

Q: So you always get everything right yourself?
A: [Laughs] Oh no, I always get something wrong. I have a thing that’s almost like Tourettes where when I can’t get certain words down I just start cussing. Then at the end of the year they do a reel of all the bloopers and there’s Justin cussing over and over again.

TV Line posted a few spoilers about season 11 of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and included the first episode still featuring Justin and Ellen Pompeo. If you don’t want to know any spoilers, you’ll want to skip the rest of this update.

TV Line: Fall TV Spoilers 2014 – Grey’s Anatomy

The matter of Derek and Meredith’s seemingly at-odds career paths will continue to intensify. “Derek is not wrong for wanting what he wants, and Meredith is not wrong for wanting what she wants,” explains series creator Shonda Rhimes. “It doesn’t make him a misogynist because he wants to follow his career. And it doesn’t make her wrong for wanting to stick to her guns and fight for what she wants to do. It puts them in a difficult position.” Between the marital woes, the “very interesting” complications triggered by the reveal of her surprise half-sister Maggie and the recent loss of her “person” Cristina, Mer will be on the prowl for a new shoulder to lean on. Enter Alex. “They’ve always had a very close relationship that didn’t need a lot of work because they had a million other people there,” she notes. “Now it’s just the two of them; they become closer out of necessity.” Callie and Arizona’s foray into surrogacy “brings up some issues,” while April and Jackson brace for their own new arrival later in the season — although how much later remains in flux, in light of Sarah Drew’s real-life pregnancy. “[Sarah] is more pregnant than April, so we have some math we’re trying to figure out,” shares Rhimes. “But we are not accelerating [April’s pregnancy]. We already have the first part of our season planned, and nobody’s giving birth in the first nine episodes.”

BONUS SPOILER | Rumor has it sparks will indeed fly between Owen and Amelia (newly-minted series regular Caterina Scorsone).

RETURN DATE | Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c (ABC)

I have added another interview to our gallery. This time it’s an interview from Portuguese magazine LuxWOMAN. Click on the thumbnails for the album with the scans and/or read below for a translation of the interview that covers a wide range of topics.

LuxWOMAN – August 2014

We’re at The Coronthia hotel, right next to the busy Charing Cross train station in London. Today, the ABC Studios European Press Tour is taking place, and on the first floor the agitation is considerable. Journalists from around the world are divided in groups and seated in rooms. In our room is Italy, New Zealand, England and Belgium. In the group interviews, the journalists alternate their questions during 20 minutes to actors from various shows that, in Portugal, mostly air on the channels Fox and Fox Life.

But the highlight of the trip is the individual interview: 10 minutes, without the presence of a publcist, with some faces that we have only seen until now on TV and in magazines. LuxWOMAN, after several mishaps, cancellations and confirmations, managed to have its one-on-one time, as they say here, with Justin Chambers, the Alex Karev of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.

Another video interview was posted at french channel TF1’s site. Because it’s geo-blocked for people outside of France (boo!), I uploaded it to Youtube.
The video can be watched at the source here: Justin Chambers « Alex et Jo, la famille risque de s’agrandir !» or below.

In this video, Justin discusses the evolution of Alex and his relationship with Jo. Also, Justin speaks a bit in french.

There have been quite a few interviews that have come out over the last couple of weeks from the ABC Studios press tour, but they’re mostly in french. I’ll try translating them and posting sometime. In the meantime, here is one from Portuguese newspaper, Metro.

Justin Chambers
For almost 11 years he’s played the role of Dr. Alex Karev in “Grey’s Anatomy”. We sat down with the actor in London where he explained his motivations.

“I have gained Alex’s mannerisms”

How does an actor stay motivated to play the same character for 10 or 11 years?
That’s a good question, because I don’t know! Maybe a check and knowing you have a job? But more seriously: in “Grey’s Anatomy” we have a lot of people coming in and leaving, even in each episode. I think I inspire myself in the way they commit, by the freshness they bring. The characters that Shonda [Rhimes, creator of the show] wrote have the necessary flaws to keep the show interesting. It’s like if you asked me: “Why do viewers keep watching the show?” It also goes for us actors: if we seem to be interested, it’s because it must be interesting.

Are you still surprised by the scripts you get?
Sure. A few seasons ago Alex ratted Meredith out in a specific situation. I told Shonda that I didn’t think my character was capable of committing that kind of betrayal. It didn’t seem like him! So we both sat down and agreed on: “We’ll get him drunk, because people do stupid things when they drink.” It really is like that: there are things that we might not understand, but what my character does can affect Arizona and then Callie…

Justin is on his way home after spending a few days in Belgium where he did press for Grey’s Anatomy. Here is a short interview from a Belgian site which was translated from french (Link to original source below).

Justin Chambers (Grey’s Anatomy) passing through Brussels!

After Monaco and London, Justin Chambers aka Alex Karev, the handsome Pediatric surgeon on “Grey’s Anatomy” is in Belgium, more precisely in Brussels for a European tour. We met him.

“This is the first time I come to your country and I admit that I fell in love with the architecture of some facades in Brussels” reveals the actor comfortably installed in a suite of a luxury hotel in the capital.

During the interview that he gives us, and to discover this Thursday, June 19th, the actor is back on the 10th season of “Grey’s Anatomy” being broadcast since last Saturday on RTL-TVI, but also on his visit to Belgium.

As a gift, the actor is left with a “Ciné-Télé-Revue” where two of his colleagues pose. “Thank you for this copy. I see it dates from 2011. Soon then my cover? “, he says as a joke.

Photos posted on social media from Justin’s visits to Brussels and the nearby city of Ghent (June 15-17). Click on the thumbnails.

06/17/2014

Sorry for the lack of updates the last few days, but I needed a bit of a break and now things have piled up. Today, I told myself, “Time to stop procrastinating, Diana!” lol

Justin is currently in Brussels (Belgium), but here’s a roundup of stuff that came out during Justin’s stop in London for the ABC Studios Press Tour.

First off, a couple of interviews…

Exclusive! Grey’s guy feels like an “old” TV star

Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers has been playing the part of Dr. Alex Karev in the hit U.S medical drama since 2004, so it’s not surprising that he feels like “an old TV actor.”

Speaking about working on the same show for over ten years, Justin told RTÉ Ten: “I feel like an old TV actor. It’s been a great ride. It’s wild how quickly it’s gone, but at the same time, I don’t really remember life before this show. It seems like this is what I’ve always done.”

He added: “Not many people can say in today’s world that they have been part of television history for over ten seasons. I’m still excited to be there. I’m still excited to work with the people I work with. Hopefully, I will give people a good hour of TV for the next season or two.”

After a decade of playing the part of hunky doctor Alex, Justin admits that sometimes he finds it difficult in audition situations to play a different character.

Justin further stated: “Yeah, I’m a bit like Alex and he’s a bit like me, but the way we go about our world’s are different. I actually had an audition a while ago, and it felt like I was Alex trying to audition for the role and not Justin. You do wear it as a glove.

“The whole character thing is questionable to me. In the end it’s all coming from you and your personality,”

The last season of Grey’s Anatomy saw Alex striking up a romance with Jo (Camilla Luddington), and RTÉ Ten were eager to find out if their romance will continue to blossom in the upcoming series.

When asked about Alex’s love-life, Justin said: “If anything, their relationship is going to blossom. This past year we’ve seen how they’ve worked off, off each other. In their relationship, you finally have a character that is similar to Alex – who’s come from a broken home, a person who has had to work through a lot of obstacles to become a doctor.

“They complement each other. They’re going to explore more of that. Jo being there to help him with his father, to push him and sort of make amends with him, that’s just setting an example of what’s to come in the future. Now that they live together, it will explore what it’s like for him to be domestic and who knows; maybe they’ll get married and have kids. Anything is possible.”

Sky Living airs the season 10 finale of Grey’s Anatomy tomorrow night (June 18), and the channel’s site has a video up where Justin talks a bit about Sandra Oh. You can check it out at Sky Living or watch the video below.

Here are several photos fans took with Justin in London and posted on social media. Click on the thumbnails for the bigger versions.
