&#9733 In an interview with TV Line, Camilla Luddington spoke about the events in this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy and also what is coming for “Jolex”. Here is an excerpt from the interview:

TVLINE | Were you on the edge of seat when you first read that final scene, where she’s at Alex’s doorstep? When a couple has a door between them, it could always slam in someone’s face.
It was hard for me, these past two episodes, because I really just feel for Jo. Usually when we’re not filming a scene, we’re not present, but I went and watched the scene that Justin [Chambers] and James Remar filmed in the bar. Because when I read it, it was so heartbreaking and I wanted to see how it went. I felt really invested in both Jo and Alex’s journey with this storyline, so by the time it got to the door [scene], I myself was almost exhausted. I felt like she was again putting it all on the line, but I remember saying to the director, “I don’t want her to be upset. I don’t want her to play it that way. I really feel like, at this point, she feels like she’s done everything she can.” But it’s always scary because I was like, “He’s really not even gonna open the door to her?” And they’re like, “No. He’s keeping it closed.” And that made it so difficult, as she stood there in this costume. There’s something so vulnerable about it to me.

TVLINE | Alex letting her in… Do you feel that’s the biggest hurdle they’ve cleared so far?
That’s an interesting question…. I would say yes. In their relationship, yes. Obviously, the biggest hurdle was admitting that they had feelings for each other. But again, this situation was taxing, because they’re both horrible at communication.

TVLINE | It was almost more of a test than a hurdle. Like, will he let her be there for him in that way?
Yes — and I think the door was obviously symbolic of him literally letting her in. And I don’t feel like Jo has been like this ever in a relationship either. There was a point last week where he says to me in the elevator, “It’s none of your business.” I remember discussing it with the director and thinking, “I would just be like, ‘We’re done.’ I would text him and say, ‘You can’t talk to me like that.’ Even Justin was sort of like, “Wow. He’s giving her such a hard time.” It was almost difficult to play, but I loved it because I feel as if her showing up is something she’s never done in the past. I think she’s thinking that he won’t open the door. I think she’s thinking that it will not fix things, but she just has to say it. I saw that as Jo progressing herself in a relationship.

In a new interview with The Reel Spin, actress Camilla Luddington who plays Dr. Jo Wilson on Grey’s Anatomy talks about her character Jo’s relationship with Alex and what it’s like working with Justin among other things.

TRS: You and Justin Chambers (‘Alex’) have incredible chemistry. How much fun has it been getting to explore this new relationship this season?

Luddington: Justin and I always have a lot of fun together. We laugh a lot on set and get excited to see what’s next in the cards for ‘Jo’ and ‘Alex.’ There’s a natural ease and familiarity between us because we’ve had an entire season of being stuck together filming, and I think it shows. Especially in scenes where we get to joke around together. This season is tougher then last though because now they’re together and navigating their way through a new relationship, and they aren’t the best at communication. They’re learning, but there are times when I read a script I just wanna scream at them both, “Talk! Please! Just talk to each other!” But, it makes for good drama.

&#9733 Last night’s 200th episode of Grey’s Anatomy marked a big moment for Justin’s character, Alex Karev. The Hollywood Reporter posted an article where Justin, actors James Remar and Camilla Luddington, and Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes weighed in on what’s next for Alex.

I won’t post the whole article because it’s rather long but you can click on the link for the full story. Here’s an excerpt:

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: How Will Alex Handle His Father’s Return?

Prepare to really get to know Alex Karev on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

After 10 seasons, the medical drama has introduced Alex’s (Justin Chambers) estranged father — currently known as “Junkie Jake” (Dexter’s James Remar), who arrived at Grey Sloan Memorial after a heroin-induced car crash.

[…]”We’re going to learn a lot about Alex’s past and about where he is now,” showrunner Shonda Rhimes tells THR of the upcoming arc. “He’s been a character who has really struggled with his own morality and being a good guy or not being a good guy. He’s gotten really successful at that, and it’s going to be interesting whether he backslides in the face of having his dad here or not.

[…]Chambers notes that the details of Alex’s childhood that will come up during the story line will highlight just how much he’s had to overcome, which will make his accomplishments that much more impressive.

I’m surprised Alex got through all that and became a doctor,” Chambers says. “That’s fairly impressive, and that’s inspiring for people because you can come from a messed up background and still overcome that and become better for it. Alex turned around and became a better man from it. He still has a lot to learn.

I added a larger version of the pic of Justin and James Remar to our gallery. Click on the link for the behind-the-scenes pics from last night’s episode from The Hollywood Reporter.

&#9733 TV Guide has a fun Grey’s Anatomy photo set where all the cast members tell us how they joined the show. Below is Justin’s story but the other stories can be seen at the following link: Grey’s Anatomy Hits 200 Episodes

Justin Chambers — Alex Karev
“They had shot the pilot a year before it aired. They felt they needed to tinker with it a little more. I had done a pilot for ABC, [Secret Service], that didn’t get picked up. They liked what I did in that, and they brought me in to do a screen test with Ellen. I guess they felt they needed a jerk, so they brought in this jerk. It worked out.”

More interviews celebrating the 200th episode of Grey’s Anatomy have come out!

The Hollywood Reporter asked the cast of Grey’s what the 200 episode milestone means for them, what most surprised them about their character and what their hopes are for a potential 300th episode. Here is what Justin had to say:

‘Grey’s Anatomy’s’ 200th Episode: The Cast Shares Surprises, Hopes for 300

Justin Chambers (Alex)
On 200: It’s been such a blessing to have a job for that long, to work with people I enjoy. To see all the ups and downs we’ve had and how we’ve gotten through it and enjoy it and continue to entertain people. The longer it goes, the more I realize how fortunate we are to have had this success.

What surprised him about Alex: Letting Izzie go like that after how much he fought to keep the marriage going and then realizing that they weren’t going to be together. Letting her go at the end was an interesting twist and surprised me. It was very adult for Alex. He’s emotionally stunted. When they got married is when he started to really grow up, but he regressed after that ended. I think Jo might get him to step up to the plate again and mature a bit.

Where Alex should be at 300: He should be a very good doctor; maybe do something in pediatrics that will revolutionize medicine. I’d like him to have more of a sense of self and self-security. To know who he is and how he handles relationships. I think he’s one of the characters on the show who’s really seen the light.

Glamour magazine’s site posted a Q&A with the cast and the answers are both funny and enlightening. Here’s a small excerpt:

Who has the most difficulty memorizing medical jargon?

Sarah Drew (Dr. April Kepner): Justin Chambers! Honestly, you can see it in every blooper reel in every season! There’s five minutes devoted to him saying, “What’s my line?!” We all die laughing.
Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey): Oooh, he’s gonna kill me, but maybe Kevin McKidd.
Justin Chambers (Dr. Alex Karev): Besides me? Gosh, I think it’s me. I’m on an island all my own.
James Pickens Jr. (Dr. Richard Webber): Patrick [Dempsey]. I would say Patrick.
Kevin McKidd (Dr. Owen Hunt): Justin! And me too! We’re kinda equal!
Sara Ramirez (Dr. Callie Torres): Ellen [Pompeo]. Actually, Justin Chambers is a better answer. He makes an entire commentary about what’s happening. He’ll say things like, “So much for my Emmy!”

Which cast member is always in need of caffeine?

Sarah Drew: It was Eric Dane, but now it’s Justin Chambers.
Chandra Wilson: Justin Chambers!
Justin Chambers: Me! I do Red Bulls all day!
Camilla Luddington: Justin! He drinks about five Red Bulls throughout the day, I’m not even kidding.
James Pickens Jr.: Probably Justin Chambers! His motor has to rev up, haha.
Kevin McKidd: It used to be Kim Raver. She’s a big caffeine drinker. I have to cut myself off at noon, otherwise I’ll be up all night, but she’d still be drinking it at 5, 6, 7 P.M. I don’t know how you do that!
Sara Ramirez: Patrick [Dempsey]. The racer!

The 200th episode of Grey’s Anatomy airs tonight! There are a lot of new interviews with the cast reflecting on Grey’s past and teasing the future.

&#9733 TV Guide posted a new article where Justin and his Grey’s Anatomy co-star Camilla Luddington discuss their characters’ storyline when Alex’s father resurfaces.

Grey’s Anatomy: Will Alex’s Relationship with Jo Suffer When His Dad Suddenly Returns?

While Grey’s Anatomy celebrates 200 episodes with a fundraising gala to help save Grey Sloan Memorial, Thursday’s episode (9/8c, ABC) will be far from a party for the characters. In particular, Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) will get quite a shock when his father (Dexter’s James Remar) resurfaces after 20 years.

The last time he saw his father, he was abusing his mom, and Alex had beat the crap out of him,” Chambers tells TVGuide.com. “So this revisit is going to be very interesting to see what happens.

Of course, his father’s return comes at a time when the once-cocky doctor has found himself in a new relationship with Jo (Camilla Luddington). “Alex has always been emotionally [backward], so whenever he starts to step out a little bit and feel secure, something happens and then he’s pulled back in,” Chambers says. “I think [his father’s arrival is] going to make them strong, because she comes from a similar background — not the best childhood. They’re going to be able to lean on each other, and she’s going to help him hopefully get through it.

After years of being hurt or let down by women, Alex has finally met his match, according to Chambers. “She’s someone who understands where he’s coming from,” he says. “She can call him on things, so it’s going to make their relationship deeper.

Still, Alex’s father may not be the only obstacle they have to face once Alex’s friends see that he’s getting serious with Jo. “There’s going to be some tension just because Jo’s a little bit more outspoken,” Luddington says. “There’s always that interesting relationship that happens with the women who are the friends in your life and then the girlfriend who comes in and tries to integrate into somebody’s life. I think that will cause tension during this season.

&#9733 At TV Line, the Grey’s cast was asked their all-time favorite Grey’s moment.

Grey’s Anatomy Cast Teases ‘Tragically Sparkly’ Episode 200, Reveals All-Time Fave Storylines

Justin Chambers
ON TAP FOR 200 | As previously reported, “Somebody from Alex’s past is coming to visit” – the abusive drug addict father who bailed on him as a kid, to be played by James Remar (Dexter). “And there’s a mystery to that.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE GREY’S MOMENT | “What I’ve been doing the last two years, I think, is great. They’re giving Alex some fun stuff to do with Jo, but I also loved all the old stuff with Izzie. It’s just been a great ride. It really has.

&#9733 New video interview from E! from the red carpet at the Grey’s Anatomy 200th Episode Party. Justin’s interview starts at around the 1:05 mark. Justin discusses Sandra Oh leaving at the end of the season, his future on Grey’s, his favorite moments and if he’d work for Shonda Rhimes again.
