The latest edition of French magazine Télé Loisirs, which came out today, has an interview with Justin and a few quotes from the interview were published on the site Pure People which is translated below.

I don’t speak french (I do know that “Dr Mamour” is what they call Dr. McDreamy, lol) so I mostly used the Google translator for this and made a few alterations but if any french-speaking fan wants to correct something, please do. Here’s the translated article:

Justin Chambers (Karev) about to dethrone McDreamy?

Wednesday, January 4, 2011, TF1 broadcast the seventh season of Grey’s Anatomy! After the incredible season 6 finale in which Seattle Grace had a bloody shootout, we find our Grey’s Anatomy heroes one month after the tragedy, still traumatized!

The program for this season, always more love and stories of complicated hearts. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will live with the trauma of miscarriage hidden it has not announced Derek (Patrick Dempsey). For his part, Mark (Eric Dane) tries to regain Lexie (Chyler Leigh). As for Karev (Justin Chambers), he takes on a more important role.

Moreover, while the two heroes – Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo – could be about to leave the series, Justin Chambers is promoted. When asked by Télé Loisirs, he said: “The writers also work for some time that Dr. Karev takes on even more importance in Grey’s Anatomy.”

Regarding the departure of his colleagues, he admits: “It would be odd, and even unfortunate. But fans are not afraid of changes. They want change. I add that Karev has the experience to take over.”

Whatever the outcome of the series – whether or not it will finish at the end of season 8- Justin Chambers thinks he has the right to a spin-off. “I know that Shonda Rhimes would like to work on a new spin-off that my character could have a major role,” he said.

Interview to find in its entirety in Télé Loisirs (on newsstands December 26, 2011) and return to Grey’s Anatomy Season 7 on TF1 since January 4, 2012.

Some of the article gets lost in the translation but I think we get the gist of what is being said. The original cast and ABC studios are currently in contract talks (according to Patrick Dempsey) and it sounds like Alex Karev’s (and therefore Justin’s) fate on Grey’s Anatomy after season 8 is still very much up in the air.

This week, Justin has been in New Orleans to work on Broken City. On his free time from the movie he’s been around town keeping a low profile and he’s done some generous and thoughtful things for strangers like this (BTW it´s Alex. LOL).

Or in the case of a pedicab operator named Mark, who gave Justin a ride, his kids received a nice gift. Click on the link to read Mark’s blog about meeting JC this week in New Orleans.

“I was waiting at a red light when this guy walked up to me. He had a battered leather jacket, a couple of days stubble on his chin, and a fedora pulled down low so that his eyes were in its shadows…”

I know I’ve been MIA but things have been rather quiet especially with Grey’s Anatomy on its winter hiatus. I’ll probably update the site a bit more often in the next few weeks since I’ll have some more free time.

As to the man himself, Justin is currently in New Orleans, Louisiana where he’s working on the movie ‘Broken City‘ but he’ll soon be returning to Los Angeles and his work on ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘.

Now for a few random things that have come out in the last few weeks:

Video of Justin at the 8th Annual Celebrity Bowling Challenge which benefit The KIS Foundation and raised awareness for sickle cell disease. The event was held back on Sept. 16 at PINZ Entertainment Center in Studio City, CA.

BuddyTV’s annual list of TV’s 100 Sexiest Men has Justin at #45.

An article titled “When is it time to put a television show out of its misery?” mentions Justin.

While Justin Chambers and Sandra Oh are still infinitely watchable, the rest of the cast has become boring and, in the case of show star Ellen Pompeo, annoyingly shrill.

Trade publication Variety has confirmed Justin as part of the cast of ‘Broken City’ currently filming in New York.

Here’s the article:

Chambers has been a series regular on ABC’s long-running hit “Grey’s Anatomy” for the past eight years. Thesp’s feature credits include Barry Levinson’s “Liberty Heights” and “The Wedding Planner” with Jennifer Lopez.

Ransone, who recently recurred on HBO’s “How to Make It in America,” next co-stars in Dito Montiel’s “the Son of No One” and is currently filming Summit’s “Sinister” with Ethan Hawke.

There you have it! Justin is giving Karev a little bit of a rest and playing a new character. I’m excited! 😀

Justin is currently in New York City and apparently it’s to work on the movie BROKEN CITY! There isn’t any “official” confirmation of Justin being in the movie but I’ve been hearing rumblings and there have been sightings of him in NYC. I don’t know what role Justin is supposedly playing but the cast of the movie is solid and the script sounds like it must be pretty good.

‘Broken City’ is a $60 million production in the crime/drama/thriller genre starring Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta-Jones and is being directed by Allen Hughes. The script made The 2008 Black List (the most popular unproduced screenplays that year) and was written by Brian Tucker.

Filming began last week in New York and will continue until January 26, 2011 in New York and New Orleans. The movie will be released through 20th Century Fox on January 18, 2013.

There are candid photos of some of the cast (Wahlberg, Zeta-Jones, Kyle Chandler, etc) shooting on location so, hopefully, we’ll get some candids of Justin on set too. Until there’s an official confirmation or photos take this with a grain of salt, ok? 😉

Brief synopsis for ‘Broken City’

The story centers on a cop-turned-private-investigator (Mark Wahlberg) who, in an attempt to turn his life around, is thrust into a murder investigation amid a mayoral candidate (Russell Crowe) involved in a corrupt election.

EDIT: A couple of pics of Justin with fans in New York last night.
