In an interview with TV Line, Grey’s Anatomy creator and executive-producer Shonda Rhimes, gave some details as to what will be going on between Alex, Meredith and Jo when Grey’s returns on September 25th.

Grey’s Anatomy Scoop: Alex and Jo’s Latest Threat — Meredith?!

File this one under “Grey’s Anatomy‘s Triangles We Never Thought We’d See.”

Series creator Shonda Rhimes tells TVLine that, in Season 11, Meredith, of all people — yes, Meredith, that Meredith — is going to throw a monkey wrench into Alex and Jo’s still-nascent romance.

“Jo is going to be horrified to discover how much time Alex is going to be spending with Meredith,” she previews, “and how much time Meredith is going to be spending [at their] house.”

And, no doubt, Jo will ask the same question we have: Why is this happening? Why, when the drama returns on Sept. 25, will Alex and Mer be joined at the hip? The answer: Cristina.

“Alex feels responsible for her,” Rhimes explains. “He feels like Cristina didn’t just leave him a seat on the board and the shares, she left him Meredith as well.”

And, since Mer will not only be dealing with Cristina’s absence and trouble with Derek but also (eventually) the revelation that she has another half sister, she is going to need a (strictly platonic) shoulder to lean on and an ear to bend.

“The two people she talked to before — her husband and her best friend — are now not available to her,” notes Rhimes. “So she’s looking for someone to talk to. And Alex finds himself in the uncomfortable position of being the recipient of a lot of the stuff that Cristina would have been left listening to — sometimes in very funny ways.

“They’re the last men standing of those original interns,” Rhimes continues. “I wouldn’t say they’re becoming besties. [It’s more that] they’ve always had a very close relationship that didn’t ever need a lot of work because they always had a million other people there. Now, it’s sort of the two of them, and they do become closer.”

I was looking through some old magazines and unexpectedly came across this gem. In the February 1992 edition of Interview magazine, famed photographer Bruce Weber chose photos of struggling actors and people who did other things, but all of whom had the glamour of those on the big-screen. Readers were supposed to guess which were the struggling actors and what the non-actors actually did.

Instead of uploading only Justin’s photo, I have added the scan of both pages and also the answers to the guessing game, in case anyone wants to play along. It’s pretty cool to see that 21-year-old model Justin ended up having a nice acting career. 😉

Could Be a Movie Star

Screen tests are the usual way to see if someone has what it takes to make it in the movies. Not so with this screen test. As far as Bruce Weber’s concerned, every single face here could boost the box offices, but BIG. What’s so beautiful, though, is that most of the people pictured here are not in pictures, which just goes to show that everyday life is as chock-full of glamour as the big-screen. There are those in front of you, however, who hope to become movie stars. But remember, before Rudolph Valentino made it big he worked as a taxi dancer and landscape gardener. Spencer Tracy waited in the wings, supporting himself as a bellhop, janitor, and door-to-door salesman. Guess which are the struggling actors on these pages. Now that you’re warm, guess what everyone on these pages does. If you get all the answers right, you’re a genius.

Where We Left Off: Cristina said farewell just as Meredith’s life was hitting an impasse: Derek wants to move to Washington, D.C. and new half-sister Margaret — the love child of Ellis Grey and Richard Webber who was put up for adoption — has just started to work at Grey Sloan. Meanwhile, Bailey was poised to take Cristina’s seat on the board, but Alex was gifted her shares. Also, April revealed to Jackson that she was pregnant.
What’s Next: Meredith won’t take a backseat to Derek for very long, Owen may get a new love interest — possibly Amelia, who will be sticking around Seattle — Alex will fight for his position on the board, though Bailey won’t “go quietly,” Shonda Rhimes says. Also, we’ll get to see exactly how Ellis Grey was able to hide that her pregnancy with Margaret via flashback.

Finally, Kevin McKidd tweeted this photo of Justin and Jesse Williams on the set of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Jesse celebrated his 33rd birthday yesterday and they’re currently shooting episode 11.01 which is being directed by Kevin.
